Idukki widgets can speak the language of the page they sit on. Turn it on for a collection and the widget reads the language the storefront page declares (the lang attribute on the page’s <html> tag, which Shopify and most themes set for each market), then loads that language for its own buttons and labels before it draws, so shoppers never see English switch over. Collections stay in English until you turn this on.
Languages
German, French, Danish, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Dutch, Norwegian, Polish and Portuguese. Regional codes use the main language (de-AT uses German), Norwegian Bokmål and Nynorsk both use Norwegian, and Brazilian pages use the European Portuguese pack.
What is translated
- Translated: shop and add-to-cart buttons, the cart, the post view, stories, social, wishlist and review labels, the Q&A chat, the Guided Quiz, the empty-page fallback labels, the product page hub and the swipe hint.
- Still in English: the Q&A privacy settings, the upload and report forms, AI Shopper, the product-details card and the collection-grid badge (override the badge text as shown below).
- Your content is never translated: captions, reviews, product names and anything you typed into a setting (such as your own Shop button text) appear exactly as written.
- Every pack is a first version awaiting review by native speakers. If a phrase reads wrong for your brand, override it as below and tell us.
Choosing the language for a collection
A collection can follow the page (“auto”) or be fixed to one language. Until the option is in the dashboard, ask us to set it. Packs apply to the whole page, so two widgets on one page asking for different languages share the last one loaded.
Override any phrase
Your own wording always wins over a pack. Set it on the page before or after the widget script, by string id:
<script>
window.__IDK_STRINGS__ = {
'cta.shopNow': 'Jetzt entdecken',
'hub.reviews': 'Kundenbewertungen',
'tiles.badge': '{count} Kundenfotos'
}
</script>If the pack takes longer than a moment and a half to arrive, the widget draws in English rather than keep shoppers waiting.
