Scan to Shop puts your customer photos and videos into physical stores. You print a QR code for a product or a collection; a shopper scans it in the aisle and sees real customers wearing and using that product on their phone, with a Buy online button. The code itself is a short link, so you can change where it goes after it is printed.

Set up your first code

  1. Create a code and choose its destination. Open Scan to Shop in the dashboard and create a code. Point it at a product, a collection, a category, a label, a lookbook or any URL. One product per code gives the sharpest report; a collection code suits a rail or a window.
  2. Choose where a scan lands. Pick the Idukki scan page (your headline and line of copy, the product card with a Buy online button, then a vertical feed of customer photos and videos tagged to it) or send the scan straight to your own product page. The scan is counted either way.
  3. Record the placement. Name where the print will go, store first and then zone, for example "High Street store · Rail 3". The report splits scans by placement, so a consistent naming habit now saves guesswork later.
  4. Write the headline. Keep it to what the shopper gets from scanning. Start from the tagline library ("See it styled by real customers", "Watch before you buy", "How it looks on real people", "Your size, on someone like you", "Loved it? Show us yours") or write your own, then add one line of copy underneath.
  5. Pick a template. Choose a format: shelf-talker (A6), hang tag (55 x 90 mm), counter stand (A5), window poster (A3 or A2), mirror cling (120 x 120 mm), rail strip (210 x 70 mm), box insert (A6) or an A4 sticker sheet (24-up). Your logo, colours and fonts fill in from your Brand Kit. Turn printed customer photos on or off; only posts with rights approved in Rights Management are offered.
  6. Export and print. Export the print-ready PDF (300 dpi, 3 mm bleed, crop marks) for a print shop, or download the QR alone as PNG or SVG for your own artwork. If the export is blocked, the QR would print smaller than 20 mm or the colours are too low in contrast; see Troubleshooting below.
  7. Test-scan before the full run. Print one proof on the real stock, put it where it will live and scan it with two or three different phones from the distance a shopper will actually stand. Check that it opens the right product and that the page loads on mobile data, not just shop Wi-Fi.
  8. Add an in-store offer (optional). Turn on the scan-to-unlock offer to show each shopper a single-use code on the scan page that they present at the till. On Shopify POS, a redeemed code ties that in-store sale back to the scan. Tell your store team what the code looks like before launch day.
  9. Read the report. Each code reports scans and unique scanners, placement and time of day, what shoppers did on the scan page (posts viewed, videos watched, product taps, add-to-carts, shares), online orders tied back through the Idukki visitor id and, with the offer on, in-store redemptions. Proven and influenced orders are shown separately and are never added together.

Printing well

  • Size for the distance. A common rule of thumb is a code about one tenth of the scanning distance: 2 cm works at arm's length, a window code read from the pavement needs to be much bigger. Every template already sizes the QR above the 20 mm floor.
  • Leave the white border around the code alone. The quiet zone is part of the code; cropping it or printing over it is the usual reason a code fails.
  • Matte stock scans better than gloss under shop lighting, and a laminate or window film can add glare. Test the finished piece, not the PDF.
  • Put the code at hand or eye height, next to the product it opens. A code the shopper has to reach past the product for rarely gets scanned.
  • Say what the scan gives them. "See it on real customers" earns a scan; a bare QR does not.
  • For a whole range, use bulk mode: one code per product in a collection, printed as A4 sticker sheets, 24 to a page.

Troubleshooting

The code will not scan
  • Too small for the distance: reprint larger, or move the piece closer to where shoppers stand.
  • Low contrast: a dark code on a light background scans best. Swap brand colours that sit too close together.
  • Quiet zone cropped or printed over: re-export and keep the white border intact.
  • Glare from gloss, laminate or window film: try matte stock or reposition away from direct light.
  • Damaged or curled: sticker edges and hang tags wear; replace worn pieces.
The code opens the wrong product

Edit the code in the dashboard and change its destination. The printed code is a short link, so the new destination applies to every piece already on the shop floor.

If the right product opens but the feed is thin, the code is fine; tag more rights-approved posts to that product, or point the code at a collection instead.

Do I need to reprint when a product, price or campaign changes?

No. Repoint the code to the new product, collection, lookbook or URL. Reprint only if the printed words or photos on the piece itself are now wrong.

The export button is blocked

Export is blocked when the QR would print smaller than 20 mm or when the colours are too low in contrast to scan reliably. Pick a larger template or raise the contrast between the code and its background.

A customer photo I expected is missing from the template

Printed pieces only use posts with rights approved in Rights Management. Request rights from the post first; see /help/request-usage-rights.
