This guide takes a Shopify store from no Idukki to a live, shoppable gallery. You need staff access that can install apps and edit themes.
Inside the Idukki app, a Setup guide card tracks the same steps. Each step ticks off once Idukki sees it done.
Put a UGC gallery on your store
- Install the app. Open Idukki on the Shopify App Store and click Install. Approve the permissions Shopify shows. Your products sync to Idukki in the background.
- Create a gallery and pick a layout. In the Setup guide, click Create widget. Name it for where it will sit, such as Homepage gallery. Open the layout picker and choose one. Grid suits product pages. Carousel suits a homepage hero.
- Connect a source. A gallery stays empty until it has posts. In the Setup guide, click Add posts. Import from Instagram, TikTok or YouTube, or upload your own photos and videos.
- Approve posts. Open the collection and look through what came in. Hide anything off-brand from the post’s three-dot menu. Under Rights, open Rights Management to request or record permission. Only publish posts marked Approved.
- Tag products. Open a post’s three-dot menu and choose Tag Products under Engage. Pick Manual Tagging, search your catalogue and save. Smart Assist suggests matches with AI.
- Add the Idukki block in the theme editor. In Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes and click Customize. Open the page you want, such as the home page. Click Add section and open the Apps tab. Choose Shoppable UGC Gallery.
- Point the block at your gallery. Copy the gallery’s ID from the widget list in the Idukki app. Paste it into the block’s Widget ID field. Leave it empty to show your default widget.
- Save. Click Save in the theme editor. The gallery shows on your live theme. Open the store on a phone and a laptop to check it.
- Check analytics. Open Analytics in the Idukki dashboard. Views and clicks appear once shoppers see the gallery. Add-to-cart events show for tagged products.
Other Idukki blocks
The Apps tab lists more Idukki blocks. Product Page UGC sits on product pages. Shoppable Video Reels shows video posts. Each takes a Widget ID the same way.
If it doesn’t work
- No Idukki blocks in the Apps tab: check the app is installed. App blocks need an Online Store 2.0 theme.
- Nothing shows where the block sits: the gallery has no visible posts. Add or unhide posts.
- Products missing when you tag: wait for the catalogue sync, then search again.
