The people most likely to post about a product are the ones who just received it. The post-purchase request sends each new customer one email, a set number of days after they order, with a link to your own upload form. The form already knows their order, so whatever they upload is attached to the products they bought.
Switch it on
- Open Shopify Integration. In the dashboard, open Settings and choose Shopify Integration. The tab appears once your Shopify store is connected, because requests are scheduled from Shopify orders.
- Find “Ask customers for a photo or video”. The card shows whether requests are On, Off, or Waiting for Idukki to approve. In the dashboard: Settings, Shopify Integration: the Ask customers for a photo or video card
- Turn it on and choose the timing. Switch on “Send a photo and video request after each order” and set how many days after the order it goes out: anywhere from 1 to 60 days, 7 by default. Pick a delay that gives the parcel time to arrive.
- Preview, then save. Preview email shows the request with a sample customer name and your latest products; nothing is sent. Press Save.
- Wait for approval. Before the first email reaches your customers, Idukki approves sending to your store’s customers. Until then new orders are scheduled but nothing is sent, and the card says so. We are notified when you switch it on.
Who gets an email, and who does not
- One request per order, never a reminder, and never alongside a review request email for the same order.
- Skipped when the order has no email address, was cancelled or is a test order, when the customer has already uploaded for that order, or when they have unsubscribed. The email carries an unsubscribe link.
- The card’s Last 30 days panel counts requests sent, scheduled, skipped and failed.
What happens to an upload
Uploads from the link land in your review queue as pending, tagged to the products in the order, like any other upload from your form. Nothing appears on your store until you approve it.
For developers
Signed per-order upload links
Each new Shopify order also gets a signed upload token, valid for 30 days and tied to that one order. The link in the request email carries it as t=. The business and the order are read from Idukki’s own record of the token, never from the link itself, so a token cannot be pointed at another order.
GET https://api.idukki.io/upload/{token} is public (CORS enabled) and returns what an upload page needs to brand itself and list the order: businessName, bguid, brandColour, logo, products (id, title, image), feefo and showPoweredBy. An unknown token is a 404 and an expired one a 410.
POST business/uploadMedia accepts the token as uploadToken in place of bid and oguid; the order’s products are attached and the upload is recorded as a verified buyer’s. An expired token is a 410, any other bad token a 403.
Common questions
- Does this work on WooCommerce or BigCommerce?
- Not yet. Requests are scheduled from Shopify orders, so the card only appears for a connected Shopify store.
- Can I change the email’s wording?
- Not today. The email names your store, shows up to three products from the order and has one button to your upload form, which is pre-filled with the customer’s name and every product in the order. It promises no reward. Preview it from the card to see exactly what customers get.
