Inside the playbook
In this article
It is the Monday after Black Friday. Your ads are live and your inbox is full. A shopper opens your best seller on her phone. She has three other tabs open with the same kind of product. Your page has four studio photos and twelve text reviews. A rival's page has a video of a real customer using it. She buys there.
This playbook is about that page. It runs from late October to the end of January. Each chapter says what to do that week, and why.

Last season set records too. Adobe measured $257.8B in US online spend for November and December 2025. Cyber Monday took $14.25B and Black Friday $11.8B. Shopify merchants sold $14.6B over the four days, up 27%. NRF counted 202.9 million shoppers over the five-day weekend.
Two numbers matter most for a single store. Most of that spend happens on a phone. And the shopper is comparing you with other tabs. Both make the product page the place the sale is won.
The dates for 2026

| 19 Dec | Saturday | Super Saturday, the last Saturday before Christmas |
| 25 Dec | Friday | Christmas Day |

Keep these on one wall. The full calendar, with 2027 dates, is in the holiday ecommerce calendar.
Late October: choose the products that carry the season
Most stores sell a handful of products in a peak week. Name them now. Use last year's November orders, or this year's top sellers if you are new.
Five checks per hero product
- 01
Count the proof
How many customer photos, videos and reviews show on the page today?
- 02
Clear the rights
Ask the creators of your best posts for permission now. Answers take days.
- 03
Place it near the button
Put real photos and short video next to the price. The foot of the page is too late.
- 04
Test on a phone
Open the page on mobile data. Time how long the first photo takes.
- 05
Point ads at it
Check that ads and email links land on this page. The homepage loses them.
Can you still collect new content? Some. Post-purchase requests sent now reach October buyers. But a library built in five weeks is thin. Use what you already have first. Search your tagged Instagram and TikTok posts and your review photos. The late-start plan is in the five-week Black Friday plan.
One brand is not a law. But it is a measured test with a control group. The detail is in the Theater case study.
Speed: the check nobody wants to run
Shopify recorded peaks of $5.1 million a minute on Black Friday 2025. Your store will not see that. But it will see more traffic than any test. Every script on a product page is weight. Remove apps you no longer use. Load galleries and video lazily, after the first photo. If you change your theme, do it before 13 November. Then freeze it.
If the store already feels slow, read why your Shopify store is slow first.
November: Black Friday to Cyber Monday
The landing page carries the paid and email traffic. Keep the offer, the end date and real proof in the first screen. Put a short customer video next to the add-to-cart button. Write delivery messages from your own carrier list.
Black Friday against Cyber Monday, US online spend
- Black Friday 2025 (measured)$11.8B
- Cyber Monday 2025 (measured)$14.25B
- Black Friday 2026 (forecast)$12.9B
- Cyber Monday 2026 (forecast)$15.1B
Black Friday grows faster. Cyber Monday stays bigger. Plan a swap on Sunday night: a new headline, new email and the same proof. NRF counted 75.9 million online shoppers on Cyber Monday 2025, up from 64.4 million. The full comparison is in Black Friday vs Cyber Monday.
| Day | Store | Proof and content | Team |

| Sun 29 Nov | Swap to Cyber Monday copy at night | Refresh the landing page video | Check stock on hero products |
| Mon 30 Nov | Cyber Monday | Same proof, new headline | Full rota |
Black Friday landing page checklist
What goes above the fold, on one printable page.
December: gifts, Super Saturday and late shoppers
On 1 December the store changes job. The shopper is now buying for someone else. She wants to know it will arrive and that the person will like it.
- Build a gift guide by person and by budget. Use photos of the product being given and opened.
- Show a delivery-by-Christmas line on every page. Take the dates from your own carriers.
- After the last delivery date, lead with gift cards and click-and-collect if you have it.
- Super Saturday is 19 December. Plan one last email for that morning.
The page template is in how to build a Christmas gift guide page.
January: returns, unboxing and the reset

Some returns you cannot prevent: duplicate gifts, a change of mind. Others come from a gap between the photo and the product. Wrong size, wrong colour, smaller than it looked. Customer photos with fit notes close part of that gap. The detail, with what they cannot fix, is in holiday returns and customer photos.
January is also when the gift videos appear. A recipient films the unboxing on Christmas morning. You never see it unless you ask. Send the request after delivery. Put a QR code in the box that opens an upload page. Ask for rights before you reuse anything. See unboxing season.
A head start on 2027
Black Friday 2027 is Friday 26 November. Write down three things before the January sales end. Which pages sold. Which proof was missing. Which week the team ran out of time. That note is the first page of the BFCM 2027 planning playbook.
