How to build a Christmas gift guide page that sells
Sort by recipient and budget. Show each gift in customer photos and video. Then switch to last-minute mode after Super Saturday.
It is a Tuesday lunchtime in mid-December. A shopper has your gift guide open on her phone. She needs something for her brother, under $50. She scrolls past twelve studio shots on white. None of them shows the thing being opened, worn or used.
In this article
This guide gets you one page that does four jobs. It helps a shopper pick a gift for one person. It shows the gift through other buyers' eyes. It says plainly whether the gift arrives in time. And it keeps selling after shipping stops.
A fill-in template of the whole page is at the end. You can build it in your theme with collections and sections. No developer is needed for most of it.
The four questions a gift shopper asks
A gift shopper is buying for someone else. So the usual product page questions change. Each section of the page answers one of these.
| Shopper's question | Page section | What goes there | Proof slot |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who is it for? | Recipient tabs | Four to six groups, such as "For him", "For her", "For kids", "For the host" | One customer photo per group, in use |
| What can I spend? | Budget chips | Three or four price bands that match your range | Star rating and review count on each card |
| Will they like it? | Product cards and gallery | Gift-ready products with a one-line reason to give | Photos of it wrapped, unboxed, worn or in use |
| Will it arrive? | Delivery line | A line that links to your shipping page | None: facts only |
| What if they hate it? | Gift returns line | Your gift receipt and returns policy, linked | None: facts only |
| Too late to ship? | Last-minute strip | Gift cards, e-gift cards and in-store pickup if you offer it | A photo of the card or the gift message |
Sort by recipient, then by budget
A gift shopper knows two things: who the gift is for and roughly what to spend. Think "gifts for dad under $50". Your page should answer that pair in two taps.
- Recipient groups first. Pick four to six groups your products fit. Fewer groups mean less scrolling on a phone.
- Budget bands second. Set three or four bands from your own price list. Each band should hold at least six products.
- One reason per product. Write a short line under each card. "Fits any coat pocket" beats a list of specs.
- One collection per group. Build each group as a store collection. Then the page, emails and ads can all link to it.
Phones matter here. Adobe forecasts that 57.4% of US online holiday spend in 2026 will happen on mobile. Test the tabs and chips on a phone before anything else.

Show the product as a gift, in customer photos
Studio shots show the product. Customer photos show the moment the shopper is buying for. That is the wrapped box under a tree, or the scarf on a real person.
Look for four kinds of photo. Put the first two near the top of the page.
- 1Unboxing. Hands opening the box. It shows the packaging and what is inside.
- 2Wrapped. The product as a present. It tells the shopper it looks good as a gift.
- 3Worn or used. The product on a person or in a room. It answers "will they actually use it?"
- 4Group or table. Several items in one scene. It suggests a bundle or a second gift.
Where do these come from? Start with last December's tagged posts and review photos. Then ask November buyers for a photo after delivery. Every post needs the creator's permission before it goes on the page.
Does customer content move the number? Theater ran an on-site A/B test with more than 30K visitors per arm. Real customer content on product pages lifted conversion by 20%. The method is in the Theater case study.
Add short shoppable video
One unboxing clip can answer three questions at once: size, packaging and quality. Tag the product in the clip so a tap opens it.
- Keep clips short. Under 30 seconds, filmed on a phone, vertical.
- Put one row near the top. A reel of four to six clips above the first product grid.
- Load it lazily. Off-screen video should not download until the shopper scrolls. Check with our store speed check.
For where clips work best on a page, see where to place shoppable video.
We make Idukki, so here is how ours fits. You collect posts from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, reviews and on-site uploads. You tag each one to a product and request rights. Then you put a shoppable video row or a gallery on each recipient tab.
Write a delivery line you can stand behind
"Will it arrive by Christmas?" needs a true answer on the page. A wrong one costs you a refund and a repeat customer.
Carrier cutoffs change every year, and by service. So do not type a date from memory. Check each carrier's published holiday cutoffs. Then put the dates on your own shipping page.
On the gift guide, write one line that links there. Update the shipping page when a carrier changes a date. A sample line: "Order by the dates on our delivery page for Christmas arrival."
Add a gift returns line next to it. NRF and Happy Returns found retailers expected 17% of holiday sales back as returns in 2025. Say whether you offer gift receipts and how long returns stay open.
Move the page to last-minute mode
Super Saturday, the last Saturday before Christmas, falls on 19 December 2026. Christmas Day is a Friday. After that weekend, check each morning whether standard shipping still arrives in time. Your carriers' cutoffs decide the exact day.
