# The Shopify product page checklist for 2026: 20 checks, top to bottom

Twenty checks in the order a shopper scrolls, from the first image to page speed. Includes a printable PDF.

A product page has one job. It has to answer the shopper's last questions before they leave. Will it fit? What does it look like on? When will it arrive? Can I send it back? This checklist puts each answer where shoppers look for it. It takes an afternoon per template.

**Quick answer**

- **Above the fold:** price, stars and the main image, with no scroll on a phone.
- **Proof next:** customer photos near the size or variant picker.
- **Near the button:** delivery date, returns and the free shipping threshold.
- **Speed last, but always:** test the page in PageSpeed with each app on and off.
- We make Idukki, which handles one item here: customer photos. We say so where it appears.

## How to use this list

Open your best-selling product on a phone. Work down the page with the list. Mark each check pass or fail. Fix the fails on the template, so every product gets the fix at once. The checks are practice from store audits. They are no guarantee of any result. Measure before and after.

**Where each answer goes**
- **Above the fold — Image, title, price, stars:** Everything needed to decide whether to keep reading.
- **Next to the picker — Customer photos:** Real bodies and real rooms, close to the size or colour choice.
- **Details — Reviews, sizing, materials:** Answers to the questions shoppers email about.
- **Buy box — Delivery, returns, add to cart:** The last doubts, settled beside the button.

## Above the fold

1. **Price is visible** without scrolling on a phone.
2. **Star rating and review count** sit under the title and link to the reviews.
3. **The main image** shows the product clearly, on a plain background.
4. **Variant choices** show as swatches or buttons, with nothing hidden in a dropdown.

## Proof

1. **Customer photos** sit near the variant picker, with products tagged.
2. **Fit details** such as height and size appear in captions where customers gave them.
3. **Reviews show low ratings too.** Hiding them is banned in the US and UK.
4. **Video** shows the product moving, folding or in use, if it does any of those.

## Details

1. **A size guide** uses your own measurements. Check them against the real garment.
2. **Materials and care** sit in a short, scannable list.
3. **The top three questions** from support are answered on the page.
4. **Related products** suggest an add-on, such as a case or a refill.

## Buy box

1. **A delivery estimate** appears as a date range near the button.
2. **The returns policy** is one line with a link, near the button.
3. **The free shipping threshold** shows how far the cart is from it.
4. **Add to cart stays reachable** on a phone. Long pages need a sticky bar.

## Speed

Google's Core Web Vitals set three targets for a good page. Test your product template in PageSpeed Insights, on mobile. Then test again with each app switched off. The gap is that app's cost.

- **2.5s** — Largest Contentful Paint or less
- **200ms** — Interaction to Next Paint or less
- **0.1** — Cumulative Layout Shift or less

_Google's "good" thresholds for Core Web Vitals, from web.dev._

1. **LCP:** the main image loads first and is not lazy-loaded.
2. **INP:** variant and add to cart respond at once on a mid-range phone.
3. **CLS:** reviews and galleries reserve their space, so nothing jumps.
4. **Leftover code:** uninstalled apps left no snippets in the theme.

## Why the last screen matters

Baymard Institute's running average puts cart abandonment near 70%. Extra costs and slow delivery are among its top reasons. A product page can answer both. Answering them before the cart costs only layout work.

## Where Idukki fits (ours)

We make Idukki. It covers the proof section: customer photos and video, tagged to the cart, near the picker. Its galleries reserve their space as they load. **The takeaway:** Work down your best seller on a phone. Fix fails on the template. Measure conversion before and after, one change at a time.

### Questions store owners ask

**Q: What should be above the fold on a product page?**

A: The main image, title, price and star rating, visible on a phone without scrolling.

**Q: Where should customer photos go?**

A: Near the size or colour picker, where the shopper is deciding. Captions with height and size help most.

**Q: How fast should a Shopify product page be?**

A: Google sets three targets. LCP of 2.5 seconds, INP of 200ms and CLS of 0.1, or less.

**Q: Should I hide bad reviews?**

A: No. Hiding genuine negative reviews is banned in the US and the UK.
