You want X posts on your website. There are four ways to do it, and they suit different jobs. One post in a blog article needs X's own embed code. A wall of hashtag posts at an event needs a tool that filters what shows. This guide compares all four, then gives the steps for each.

**Quick answer**

- **One post:** paste its URL into X's publish tool and copy the code. Free.
- **One profile's timeline:** the same tool makes a scrolling feed of one public profile. Free.
- **A styled feed on a small site:** a free widget plan, such as Juicer's.
- **Hashtags, several networks or a store:** a moderated wall such as [Idukki's X widget](/widgets/twitter). We make Idukki.

## The four ways, compared

| Method | What you get | Cost | Good for | Watch out for |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| X embed code for one post | One post, drawn by X's script | Free | Quoting a post in an article | Shows as a plain link if X's script fails |
| X timeline from the publish tool | A scrolling feed of one public profile | Free | A news or team page | One profile only, with no hashtag or search feeds |
| Free third-party widget (Juicer) | A styled feed from one source | Free plan; paid from $15 a month | Small sites testing a feed | X is a 7-day trial on the free plan. Juicer branding shows |
| Moderated wall (Idukki, ours) | X posts with Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, filtered, can be shoppable | Free up to 20,000 impressions a month | Stores, campaign pages, event screens | More setup than one post needs |

We make Idukki, so read the last row with that in mind. We rank nothing here. Each row fits a different job.

## Method 1: embed one post

1. Open the post on X and copy its URL.
2. Go to publish.twitter.com and paste the URL.
3. Pick the embedded post option and copy the code it gives you.
4. Paste the code into an HTML block on your page and publish.

No developer account is needed. The code loads X's widgets.js script, which draws the post. When that script is slow or blocked, the reader sees a plain quote with a link.

## Method 2: embed a profile timeline

1. Copy the profile URL, for example x.com/yourbrand.
2. Paste it into publish.twitter.com and choose the embedded timeline option.
3. Set the theme and height, then copy the code.
4. Paste the code where the feed should appear.

A timeline shows that profile's own posts only. It cannot show a hashtag, mentions or search results. Styling stops at a light or dark theme and a height. In 2023 embedded timelines stopped rendering for logged-out visitors for a while. Treat a timeline as decoration you can afford to lose.

## Method 3: a free widget tool

Widget tools pull posts on their own servers and render a styled feed. Juicer's free plan gives one feed with one source and refreshes once a day. Its X, LinkedIn and hashtag sources are a 7-day trial on that plan. Paid plans start at $15 a month for three sources. The free feed carries Juicer branding.

1. Sign up and create a feed.
2. Add your X handle as a source.
3. Pick a layout and copy the embed code.
4. Paste the code into your page.

## Method 4: a moderated wall with Idukki

Use a wall when anyone can post to the hashtag you show. Idukki collects X posts by handle or campaign tag. It runs them through [automatic moderation](/blog/ugc-moderation-best-practices) and publishes only what passes. You can add a human approval queue. The same wall can mix X posts with Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.

1. Install Idukki from the Shopify App Store, or book a demo for other platforms.
2. Add X as a source with your handle or hashtag.
3. Set moderation rules and, if you want, turn on manual approval.
4. Pick a layout on the [X widget page](/widgets/twitter) and copy the embed.
5. On Shopify, add the gallery block in the Theme Editor. Elsewhere, paste one script tag.

On a store, you can tag products to posts so the wall links to them. The free plan covers up to 20,000 widget impressions a month and shows the Idukki logo. For more networks in one feed, read [the social media aggregator guide](/blog/best-social-media-aggregator-tools).

## What about the X API?

You can build your own feed on the X API. Reading posts through it is a paid product. Rates change, so check X's developer pricing page. You also write and host the fetch, cache and render code. That only pays off if you already use the API for something else.

## Page speed

X's widgets.js sits on your page's critical path. When it is slow, your page is slow. When it fails, the embed disappears. Lazy-loading it behind a click helps. A wall rendered from a server cache works the other way round. An X outage then shows slightly older posts instead of nothing. The numbers are in [Core Web Vitals impact of UGC widgets](/blog/core-web-vitals-ugc-widgets).

**Pick by the job:** One post: X's embed code. One profile: X's timeline. A styled feed on a small site: a free widget. Hashtags, events or a store: a moderated wall.

LinkedIn has no feed widget at all. [The LinkedIn feed embed guide](/blog/embed-linkedin-feed-on-website) covers the workarounds.

### Questions people ask

**Q: Can I embed a hashtag feed from X for free?**

A: Not with X's own tools, which embed posts and profile timelines only. Widget tools add hashtag sources, usually on a paid plan.

**Q: Do I need an X developer account to embed a post?**

A: No. The publish tool makes the code without an account.

**Q: Why does my embedded post show as plain text?**

A: X's widgets.js script did not load. Ad blockers, privacy settings or a slow network can stop it.
